PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

The Horse Cave City Public Works Department is responsible for general maintenance work on city streets and sidewalks, mowing city property and State right-of-ways inside the City, city park maintenance, the Thomas House maintenance, and two city-owned cemeteries.  Their hours of operation are 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The Public Works Department offers free large item drop-off for city residents once in the spring and once in the fall.  The dates of these pick-ups will be listed on the City's Facebook page, in the newspaper, and WLOC radio.  If you have large items and unable to transport them yourself to the drop off site, please call City Hall.

WEEKLY YARD WASTE AND BRUSH PICK-UP

Cooperative service between City and Hart County Solid Waste


Residents of Horse Cave may schedule weekly yard waste or brush chipped(home owner generated only) by calling City Hall at 270-786-2680 by Monday, 2:00 PM for same week pickup.  Residents should provide the following information:  Name, Address, exact location of bags/brush, and a brief description.  


YARD WASTE-Includes leaves & grass clippings only-No Trash or Garbage.  Place yard waste in heavy-duty trash bags of less than 25 lbs.  Bags should be at street curb no later than 7am, Tuesday. Be sure to give the exact location of the bags if you live on a corner lot. 

   

BRUSH/TREE LIMBS-Brush is chipped on Wednesday or Thursday and includes tree branches, limbs, small bushes or shrubs(root ball removed).  Stack brush neatly with cut end toward street.  Root balls and limbs larger than 4 inches in diameter can not be chipped and need to be disposed by the property owner.  


BRUSH/TREE LIMBS GENERATED BY CONTRACT WORK MUST BE REMOVED BY CONTRACTOR.  


PROHIBITED MATERIAL:  Household trash-rubbish-rocks-dirt-metal-glass-demolition debris-tree roots or root ball
